Implants are one way of replacing missing teeth. A titanium fixture is placed into the jaw bone and acts like the root of a natural tooth. Once the implant fixture has integrated to the bone, a crown or bridge is then attached onto this implant.
Gum disease or gingivitis is caused by the accumulation of plaque and calculus (tartar) around the teeth and gums. The first sign of gum disease is bleeding from the gums when you brush your teeth.
